ISK is pleased to announce that we’ve been certified as a Michigan Veteran Connector organization by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The Michigan Veteran Connector designation recognizes health systems and community partners (such as schools, churches, and employers) that are committed to supporting the needs of service members, veterans, and military-connected families.
With this certification, ISK also will be upgraded from Bronze to Silver status as a Veteran-Friendly Employer. The MVAA recognizes employers that commit to military veteran recruitment, training, and retention practices by awarding those employers Gold, Silver and Bronze level status as Veteran-Friendly Employers. The program helps qualified organizations recruit and retain top veteran talent.
“This Michigan Veteran Connector organization designation from the Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency shows the commitment and dedication the people of ISK have for current military service members, veterans, and their families (SMVF),” says ISK’s Veteran Navigator, (RET) Master Sergeant Juan Gonzalez. “In keeping with the theme of teamwork and the military, this designation proves the allegiance from ISK leadership throughout the ranks to our goal of assisting SMVF in the Kalamazoo County area. We will continue to work with the MVAA and other organizations to ensure we’re improving services to those in need.”
As ISK’s community outreach contact for SMVF in Kalamazoo County, Juan assists with housing, health, employment, education, mental health, jail diversion, and other areas, using local and state resources. Learn more by visiting our Veteran Services page.
